In ZUL RAFIQUE & partners, we recruit and retain talent through various initiatives:-
A Week at Zul Rafique – A five-day orientation programme for first year law students to familiarise themselves with the various practice groups in the law firm and to visit the courts in Kuala Lumpur and the superior courts in the Palace of Justice at the Federal Administrative Capital (Putrajaya).
The programme also involves visits to the alternative disoute resolution forums which include the Industrial Court and the arbitration centre at the Kuala Lumpur Centre for Arbitration. The students will also visit the largest law library in the country, namely the Law Faculty, University of Malaya.
Learn and Earn – This programme is designed for students to spend some time in the law firm during their summer (semester) breaks to learn while they earn. Students who qualify for this programme are those who have completed either their first or second year study.
They spend between one and three months in the firm, generally between June and August, to get a sense of familiarity. They are trained to conduct legal research by our trainers and also our online research database vendors and providers.
* The intake for the Learn and Earn programme is now closed. The next intake will be in July/August 2017. Those interested are required to send in their applications by 30 April 2017.
Paralegal Eagles – This programme is specifically structured for those who have completed the law degree but have not yet embarked on the BPTC/CLP. We accept them for a paralegalship for a period between three months and a year. We have found paralegals to be specifically beneficial in the non-contentious departments.
Lawyers in Chambers – This is the compulsory nine-month pupillage programme that has to be completed before a lawyer is admitted as an Advocate and Solicitor and to possess a valid practising certificate.
* The February 2017 intake for pupillage is now closed. The next intake will be in July/August 2017. Those interested are required to send in their applications by 15 May 2017.
