Act A1625: National Security Council (Amendment) Act 2020 comes into operation on 1 November 2020.

It is an Act to amend the National Security Council Act 2016 (Act 776). The highlights of the amendment are; 1) Amendment of section 18 of the principal Act regarding the authority to declare a security area, by giving that power to the Yang di-Pertuan Agong instead of the Prime Minister, 2) Amendment to section 37 of the principal Act, which increases the penalty for breaching information linked to National Security Council, 3) amendment to section 42 of the principal Act which enables the Council to make regulations under the said Act, and 4) the insertion of two new sections 42A and 42B, which contain the provision relating to offences committed by any person, or a company, limited liability partnership, firm, society or other body of persons.
